A civil servant, Abdulai Haruna says in an interviewe conducted with him on the 13th of November, 2023 on impact of transportation on climate change that, its undeniable fact that transportation impacts climate change.
According to him, The development of transport construction infrastructure lead to the destruction of the forest and falling down of trees which exposes the earth surface into heat with.
"Transportation impacts climate change in varied ways. The development of transport infrastructure, that is construction of roads airports, railways and many more lead to the destruction of the forest and fall down of trees. This reduces the ability of the atmosphere to absorb the unnecessary gas emitted into the system. Hence, exposing the earth surface into heat".

He added that, the improper planning of cities also affect climate change through transportation.
" Secondly, the improper planning of our cities also impact greatly on climate change through transportation in the sense that, because of the bad road networks, people are forced to use their own cars instead of joining commercial cars. In doing that, there are so many cars on our street. All of this reduces the ability of the atmosphere to absorb all the heat that is in the system hence exposing the earth surface to a lot of heat".
He again said, greenhouse gas emissions from burning of fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide and other pollutants into the atmosphere which trap heat and contribute to global warming.
"Again, a greenhouse gas emissions that is, the burning of fossil fuels such as gasoline and diesel in cars, trucks, ships, and airplanes all releases carbon dioxide and other gases into the atmosphere. This gases trap heat and contribute to the warming of the earth surface. Different modes of transportation have varried levels of carbon intensity. For instance, air travels turn to have a higher carbon footprint per passenger mile compared to the ground, transportation particularly public or electric transit".
Abdulai Haruna concluded that black carbon emissions cause by transportation affects climate change.
" Last but not the least is the black carbon emissions. Incomplete burning of fossil fuels in transportation, can produce black carbon when deposited on snow and ice reduces the relativity and accelerate melting in polar and mountainous regions".
