There are many efforts that are put in place to address the impact of transportation on climate change in Ghana. The potential economic and health benefits of sustainable mobility measures in Ghana are highlighted in a paper published by the WHO's Urban Health Initiative as per reports  indicates that over a 35-year period, sustainable modes of transportation in Accra, Ghana, might prevent up to 5500 premature deaths through improved air quality and an additional 33,000 lives through increased physical activity, translating into estimated health economic benefits of USD 15 billion. The report suggests that greater access to greener vehicles for citizens and increased walking and cycling infrastructure, while also developing a more comprehensive and decarbonized public transportation system, could help achieve these numbers.

In Climate Risks and Infrastructure, A report warns that climate risks could cost Ghana's transport sector $3.9 billion by 2050. The government is prioritizing adaptation investments to mitigate the climate risks facing Ghana’s infrastructure in the energy, transport, and water sectors.

Ghana's transportation industry significantly contributes to both air pollution and climate change. In order to offset the impact of climate change on the nation's infrastructure, efforts are being made to cut emissions by the government, emphasize the potential health and economic benefits of sustainable transport measures, and give adaptation expenditures first priority.
